Mifeprex - Mifepristone

Starting from $130.00

Mifeprex is an effective abortion pill to end an unintended pregnancy. Oral contraceptives or birth control pills are hormonal preparations that may contain either progestin alone or a combination of the hormones estrogen and progestin. Mifeprex blocks a hormone, progesterone needed for your pregnancy to carry on. It is not appropriate for ending later pregnancies. Early pregnancy refers to 7 weeks (49 days) or less from the time when your last menstrual period initiated. Mifeprex contains Mifepristone as active therapeutic medicament in it.

Dosing Regimen of Mifeprex

  • At the first day, take 3 tablets of Mifeprex (600 mg) at the same time.
  • At the Day 3, if you are still pregnant, take 2 misoprostol tablets (400 mcg) at the same time.
  • About Day 14, this is a very important follow-up visit to be sure you are well and that you are not pregnant. Certain tests will be done to check whether your pregnancy has completely ended.

Over Dose

If you think there is an overdose (when you take more than the suggested quantity of something, normally a drug), here are the general symptoms of such an overdose:

Symptom: This drug causes heavy vaginal bleeding and cramping if taken in excess.

Management: If overdose is doubted, contact a poison control centre or seek a medical help immediately.

Missed Dose

Since Mifeprex is used as a single dose, it does not have a daily dosing timetable. Call your physician for instructions if you forget any follow-up appointment. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra dosage of this drug to make up the missed dose.

Possible Side Effects

Cramping and bleeding are predictable with this treatment. Other common symptoms of treatment include headache, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, and diarrhoea, and dizziness, tiredness, pain in the pelvic area and back pain. These undesirable effects reduce after Day 3 and are usually vanishes by Day 14.

Severe side effects of this drug include severe vaginal bleeding, lack of sleep, stomach upset, anxiety, severe headache, fever and anaemia.

Precautions While Taking Mifeprex

Some safety measures should be monitored before taking Mifeprex or Mifepristone tablets:

  • Limit the intake of alcohol use while taking Mifeprex.
  • These tablets are not intended for those women who are having pregnancy more than 63 days or 9 weeks.
  • Do not take this drug during breastfeeding.
  • If you are uncertain about your pregnancy, avoid taking Mifeprex tablets.
